The AGL Virtualization Expert Group targets to address consolidation in AGL, supporting different virtualization techniques to isolate automotive applications on the same hardware. This activity is already started, with a patch series to enable KVM on the Renesas R-Car M3 at the yocto BSP level. However, in order to provide complete virtualization/consolidation support (extending it also to containers and microservices), a number of user space tools and kernel components is needed. To do this, a specific yocto virtualization layer needs to be designed and implemented/integrated in AGL. This BoF continues the EG-VIRT activity, reporting the activities performed in 2017 (enabling hypervisors), proposing new solutions for the yocto meta virtualization layer and defining objectives and next steps for 2018 (virtualization of the IO).
